Cahaba River Society offers guided float trips on the Cahaba River. We can supply canoes, paddles, life jackets, and a naturalist with the expertise to allow you a unique, up-close experience with the Cahaba River.
On this tour, you will experience the Cahaba lilies by moonlight. These unique plants have evolved to attract a nighttime pollinator, the sphinx moth. Their stunning white blossoms glow beneath the moonlight and evening is when they release the aroma of their nectar. This night time tour will allow you to see the lilies in a whole new light.
Cahaba Lily Tours are vigorous outings. They involve wading both upstream and downstream on a rocky river bottom, and paddling both upstream and downstream in shoals. Participants should wear sturdy shoes. If a participant has mobility issues, this should be discussed with a Cahaba River Society representative before requesting a reservation.
The Cahaba National Wildlife Refuge is about a 45 minute drive from Birmingham.
